Hollowcore Technical Details

All Hollowcore planks are designed to the requirements of BS8110. Standard Hollowcore planks have a minimum fire resistance of 1hour. Rhino Precast supply slabs at 150mm, 200mm, 250mm and 300mm. All slabs achieve a minimum of 300 kg/m³ for compliance with Approved Document E of the Building Regulations and for Robust Detail Ltd.

Approved Document A

Precast floors can offer technical flooring solutions for compliance with Approved Document A of the Building Regulations 2004 for Disproportionate Collapse. Preformed slots can be provided in slabs at manufacture.

Diaphragm Action

Precast floor slabs, when structurally grouted, provide a floor with a full diaphragm action to the building. A structural topping is not required.

Camber

All prestressed floor units will have an upward camber which should be allowed for in the finishes. The degree of camber is dependant upon the span and the prestressing force. Variations in camber between adjacent units will be within the tolerances specified in BS8110, except in areas where the adjacent spans are of different lengths, or where large holes are formed within the middle third of the units.

Grouting

The joints between planks are to be grouted with a minimum of C30 grade concrete. A maximum 10mm aggregate is required.

Drawings

Rhino Precast Ltd offer a free design service and will provide layout drawings prior to manufacture. Drawings detail the length of units required, service entry positions and the loadings to which the floor is designed. Details are to be confirmed by Contractor prior to manufacture.
